The Al-Rifai Family’s Legacy
The Al-Rifai family stands as one of the most prominent contributors to Iraq’s development and progress. Their construction and commercial ventures were established in 1960 by the founding brothers, who laid the foundation for excellence and quality in their various projects.
The family distinguished itself with its pioneering role in executing large-scale projects in collaboration with Iraq’s service ministries. They undertook the construction of legal courts in Baghdad, in addition to building significant government facilities, including various ministries. The family was also entrusted with constructing residences for ministers, reflecting the high level of trust placed in them by government entities.
The Al-Rifai family achieved remarkable milestones, contributing to the completion of more than 47% of construction projects in Baghdad during the 1960s. Although the era lacked a formal system for company registration, their work was widely recognized under the name “Al-Rifai,” a title that symbolized their strong presence and professionalism in the Iraqi market.
These cumulative achievements laid a solid foundation for the Al-Rifai family’s continued legacy in construction and commerce, establishing them as a model of leadership and national responsibility.
In June 2016, I began my diplomatic career by joining the “ICAF” Intergovernmental Organization for Excellence, affiliated with the United Nations. I worked diligently, achieving significant contributions in collaboration with Iraqi provinces, which enhanced the organization’s standing.
In April 2017, I received an invitation from His Excellency Ambassador Akrami Al-Zaghat, Secretary-General of the “WFDP” organization affiliated with the United Nations, to nominate me for the position of Special Advisor to represent the organization in the Republic of Iraq. This nomination came as a recognition of the success I had achieved with “ICAF.” I met with the ambassador to discuss developments and future vision and officially received my appointment.
In this role, I coordinated with government ministries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (United Nations Organizations Department), and civil society organizations to enhance collaboration and achieve prosperous successes in Iraq.
In 2008, I co-founded a political party named “The National Union for Iraqi Youth” in collaboration with distinguished and youthful figures, aiming for active participation in the political process. The party was officially registered with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the Independent High Electoral Commission. Three candidates were nominated to participate in the elections, and we successfully won three seats in the Anbar Provincial Council, reflecting the party’s ability to achieve its objectives.
During this period, I held the position of General Director in the Anbar Provincial Council, contributing to the development of political work and fostering collaboration to fulfill the aspirations of the province’s citizens.
In November 2017, I participated in an official business visit as a representative of the Iraqi Businessmen Union to the State of Kuwait. During the visit, we attended a meeting with several service ministries and businessmen from various sectors, discussing avenues for mutual cooperation and enhancing economic relations between the two countries.
As a result of this meeting, I was nominated for the position of Regional Director in Iraq to represent four multinational companies:
I received the official documents for these companies, and they were successfully registered in Iraq. This enabled us to execute several distinguished projects with high professionalism.
This experience significantly contributed to strengthening cooperation between foreign and Iraqi companies and advancing the investment sector in Iraq, reflecting our commitment to quality and excellence in delivering business and construction solutions.
In February 2024, I decided to register a group of companies specializing in various fields instead of establishing a single company. This decision stemmed from my experience as a Regional Director for four foreign companies, where achievements were credited to the respective companies rather than to me directly.
As a result, I founded REFAI GROUP in the United Kingdom, comprising five specialized companies:
In November 2024, the group was officially registered in the United Kingdom, with its headquarters established in the vibrant capital city of London.

I believe that REFAI GROUP has a promising future filled with success, especially after overcoming challenges faced in previous years. This accomplishment represents a qualitative leap toward achieving sustainable growth and prosperity in the years ahead.
At the conclusion of this fulfilling journey, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to everyone who played a role in supporting and assisting me throughout the different stages of my career, whether in the commercial, political, or humanitarian fields.
